Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 29, 2026
1. Introduction
BlackOptic ("we," "us," or "our") operates the BlackOptic Seer platform and the blackoptic.ai website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register or are provisioned for an account, we collect your name, email address, company name, and role. If you contact us through the website, we also collect any information you voluntarily provide in the form.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about how you interact with the platform, including queries submitted, dashboards created, features used, browser type, IP address, and access timestamps. This data helps us improve the product and provide support.
Customer Data
You may connect databases, upload files, or enter business definitions. We process this data solely to provide the service. We do not access, use, or share your business data for any purpose other than delivering and supporting the platform.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain BlackOptic Seer
- To authenticate users and manage workspace access
- To process queries and generate analytics results on your behalf
- To communicate with you about your account, support requests, and product updates
- To monitor and improve platform performance, reliability, and security
- To enforce our Terms of Service and comply with legal obligations
4. AI and Data Processing
BlackOptic Seer uses AI models to convert natural-language questions into structured queries, generate charts, and provide analytical summaries. Your queries and the resulting data are processed to deliver the service. We do not use your business data or queries to train general-purpose AI models. Hosted AI processing is performed using third-party model providers under data processing agreements that prohibit use of your data for model training.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information or business data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Third-party vendors who assist in operating our platform (hosting, AI model providers, email delivery) under contractual obligations to protect your data.
- Workspace administrators: Tenant administrators within your organization can manage users, roles, and access settings for your workspace.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, legal process, or government request.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice.
6. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Usage data and audit logs are retained according to your plan and workspace settings. Temporary datasets are automatically deleted after 7 days. When a workspace is deactivated or deleted, we remove associated data within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal retention requirements.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, role-based access controls, audit logging, and regular security reviews. Enterprise customers may configure additional security features such as SSO (OIDC/SAML) and MFA policies. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your data.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request data portability
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@blackoptic.ai.
9. Cookies and Analytics
Our website may use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. If we introduce analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice and controls.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international data transfers, including standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms as required by applicable law.
